~ ni kanshite

Regarding; concerning; with respect to

When to use it

Formal business Japanese — introducing a topic in proposals, emails, meeting agendas, and official correspondence. More elevated than について (ni tsuite), which is conversational. Also appears as に関する (ni kansuru) when attributively modifying a noun (e.g., に関する資料 — materials regarding…). Essential for external-facing communication.

Formation

  1. 来期の予算計画に関して、ご意見をお聞かせください。 Raiki no yosan keikaku ni kanshite, go-iken o o-kikase kudasai. Regarding the budget plan for next term, please share your opinions.

  2. 本件に関しては、担当者より追ってご連絡いたします。 Honken ni kanshite wa, tantōsha yori otte go-renraku itashimasu. Regarding this matter, our person in charge will follow up with you.

  3. 契約内容に関する資料を添付いたします。 Keiyaku naiyo ni kansuru shiryō o tenpu itashimasu. I am attaching documents regarding the contract details.
