~とはいえ
~ to wa ie
That said; even so; although; while it is true that ~ , still ~.
When to use it
Concessive connector that acknowledges a counterpoint without retreating from your main position. Common in board commentary, IR briefings, advisor memos, and risk-aware optimism: "Markets have rallied. That said, fundamentals remain shaky." Cleaner and more executive than ~けれども or ~でも — sounds composed, not defensive.
Formation
第一四半期は計画を上回ったとはいえ、通期見通しの上方修正は時期尚早と存じます。 Dai-ichi shihanki wa keikaku o uwamawatta to wa ie, tsūki mitōshi no jōhō shūsei wa jiki shōsō to zonjimasu. Although Q1 came in above plan, an upward revision of the full-year outlook would be premature.

円安は輸出企業に追い風とはいえ、コスト面ではむしろ逆風となっている分野もございます。 En'yasu wa yushutsu kigyō ni oikaze to wa ie, kosuto-men de wa mushiro gyakufū to natte iru bun'ya mo gozaimasu. While the weak yen is a tailwind for exporters, in terms of costs there are sectors where it has actually become a headwind.
