Even though; Although (Despite the fact that...)

When to use it

To introduce a contrast or concession where the second clause modifies or qualifies the first, implying that the first clause fact does not prevent the second clause action/state.

Formation

Verb: 忙しい (isogashii) → 忙しいといえども → 責任は変わらない (isogashii to iedomo → sekinin wa kawaranai) Even though busy, the responsibility doesn't change.

I-Adj: 広い (hiroi) → 広いといえども → 設備投資は必要だ (hiroi to iedomo → setsubi tōshi wa hitsuyō da) Even though the space is large, facility investment is necessary.

Noun: 経験 (keiken) → 経験といえども → 新しい視点が必要だ (keiken to iedomo → atarashii shiten ga hitsuyō da) Even though there is experience, a fresh perspective is necessary.

Examples

This plan is quite ambitious. However, the concern remains that cross-departmental collaboration is insufficient.
